Steps To Apply For Retirement Visa
The retirement visa application can be processed in your home country or in Thailand.
Applying For Non-Immigrant OA Visa In Your Home Country
All documents must be certified by the Royal Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate in your country.
Please note that the Thai Embassy and Thai Consulates in your country may not be able to process this type of visa application.
Applying For Non-Immigrant OA Visa In Thailand
You must obtain a 90 day permit to enter Thailand visa from the Thai Embassy and Thai Consulate in your country in order to apply for the retirement visa in Thailand.
You need to have resided in Thailand for approximately 60 days before you can submit the retirement visa application at the Immigration Bureau or be within the last 30 days of your permit.
Evidence of address in Thailand must be provided (lease agreement, utility bills etc).
Steps To Apply
for a Retirement Visa or Non-Immigrant O visa for Thailand are
1. Notify Intent To Change The Visa Status To A Non-O Visa With These Criteria:
- Foreign national who entered Thailand on a Visa on Arrival or Tourist Visa
- Apply for change of visa status before current visa expires by 15 days
- Must have a bank account opened in Thailand
- Minimum 800,000 THB deposited in the bank account
- Provide evidence of address in Thailand e.g. lease agreement
Processing time is 1-3 working days
- Documents submitted at Immigration Bureau office covering place of residence
- Processing fees is 2,000 THB
2. Apply For 1 Year Retirement Non-O Visa
- Can apply 45 days before initial 3 month Non-O visa expires
- Bank account must show a balance of 800,000 THB for at least 3 months prior to application
- No withdrawals bringing the balance below 800,000 THB allowed prior to application
- Provide evidence of address in Thailand
Processing time is 1-3 working days
- Documents submitted at Immigration Bureau office covering place of residence
- Processing fees is 2,000 THB
**Note:** Foreign nationals who have visa exempt entry or tourist visa can still apply for the retirement visa but will need to get the 1 year visa stamp for applying for the Non-Immigrant O visa and can complete the process at the Immigration Bureau in Thailand.
